There’s a pain in my neck

30 09 2004

Literally. I woke up this morning at about 5:30 needing to use the bathroom. Well, I couldn’t move because everytime I tried to lift my head, there was a shooting pain down the right side of my neck. It kind of scared me a little at first. Just to make sure I wiggled my toes and fingers and all was well there. I tried to sleep but still kept waking up. I’ve managed to make it over to my mom’s house to take some over-the-counter pain reliever and it’s not helping. Just make it go away. Boothy, if I don’t make it to Bible study, this is why.

16th Sunday After Trinity

26 09 2004

O LORD, we beseech thee, let thy continual pity cleanse and defend thy Church; and, because it cannot continue in safety without thy succour, preserve it evermore by thy help and goodness; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Christ, of all my hopes the ground,
Christ, the spring of all my joy,
Still in thee may I be found,
Still for thee my pow’rs employ.

Let thy love my heart inflame;
Keep thy fear before my sight;
Be thy praise my highest aim;
Be thy smile my chief delight.

Fountain of o’erflowing grace,
Freely from thy fullness give;
Till I close my earthly race,
May I prove it “Christ to live.”

Firmly trusting in thy blood,
Nothing shall my heart confound;
Safely I shall pass the flood,
Safely reach Immanuel’s ground.

Thus, O thus, an entrance give
To the land of cloudless sky;
Having known it “Christ to live,”
Let me know it “gain to die.”
Trinity hymnal

I’m so tired

25 09 2004
  • Matt’s sister’s husband’s brother Dustin got married today. He lived in Ruston and attended Knox all before he went off to join the Marines and ship off to Afghanistan. He got home Thursday and married a delightful young lady this evening in Deridder. I didn’t go but thought about them all day. May God bless them in their marriage.
  • Went shopping today with my mom and got lots of clothes for an ungodly amount of money. Highway robbery I say. But it was some badly needed winter type dressy clothes that I will be wearing to my next place of employment (whereever that is).
  • I felt today that I’m coming down with something and vowed to myself that I would hit the sack a little early (i.e., before 10) but here it is after 11 and I’m about to fall asleep right here. Gotta love it.
  • Interview Friday with Best Home Health for a clerical position.
  • Very special occasion next Saturday. Very excited :)

I’m going to bed now.

Nursery Tunes

22 09 2004

My good friend and somewhat new mommie (she has a 7 month old) informed me today that “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” has the same tune as the “ABC” song. After thinking about it, I agreed. Then while at Adrienne’s mom’s house, I heard “Baa Baa Black Sheep” and it has the tune as well. Whoda thunk it?

15th Sunday after Trinity

19 09 2004

KEEP, we beseech thee, O Lord, thy Church with thy perpetual mercy; and, because the frailty of man without thee cannot but fall, keep us ever by thy help from all things hurtful, and lead us to all things profitable to our salvation; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Reading anyone?

14 09 2004

While browsing at the library a couple of weeks ago, I caught eye of the large print edition of The Queen of the Big Time by Adriana Trigiani. (Click here to read the first chapter.) I picked it up and read the inside cover and thought it looked pretty good, so I made a mental note to look for the regular edition of it. (Large print usually leaves stuff out.) I found it and took it home as my book for the next two weeks. I finished it in about 2 or 3 days and absolutely loved it. I vowed to myself to try out her other books. Today I picked up Lucia, Lucia, and if I wasn’t at my mom’s tonight to watch a movie, I’d probably have it finished before I went to bed.
Both books are about a daughter of Italian immigrants trying to make it in the world. The girls have their own dreams of what they want to do with their lives even though family traditions and expectations get in the way. They find love (of course) and dodge the snowballs when they come their way. Lovely and easy reads.

Fancy a riddle? She trickses us, precious

14 09 2004

Matt told me and some other folk a riddle of sorts quite some time back, and I have yet to forget it. So..here goes.

I contain 8 characters and 3 syllables, yet only 2 letters. What word am I?

(answer is in the comments)

Life isn’t so square

14 09 2004

Life doesn’t fit in cute little boxes with pretty bows because crap happens. Found out last week that my car needs a new motor and figured out today that my computer is fried. When it rains, it pours. Bring it on, I say.

14th Sunday After Trinity

12 09 2004

ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, give unto us the increase of faith, hope, and charity; and, that we may obtain that which thou dost promise, make us to love that which thou dost command; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Trying to get my new template loaded and rebuilt, but the wireless services at the Frothy Monkey and library are screwy tonight.
