Still in LR. Still having a blast. We have done so much laughing, talking, game playing, kid wrestling, etc. I’m having so much fun.

Last night we played Mafia and during the game I’ve learned two things: Melody, Brad and I are no good at lying and Matt wants to kill me. Plus I have some magentic attraction to drawing the mafia card.

At Senor Tequilas for lunch Saturday
G: M, since you, me and B are going to be hiking that mountain this afternoon, you need to keep as hydrated as possible, so I suggest start drinking water now.
B: Yes, I’ll have a margarita on the rocks.

I’m having such a great time with the toddlers too. SPB is talking so much and can repeat almost anything you try to get him to say. He can call me “Dedus” for the rest of his life if he wants to. Sleeping in MAM’s room has been different too.

We’re leaving tomorrow morning at a wicked early hour. :(

To be continued…

Pentacost 2

29 05 2005

O God, your never-failing providence sets in order all things both in heaven and earth: Put away from us, we entreat you, all hurtful things, and give us those things which are profitable for us; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Little Rock or Bust

28 05 2005

Actually, I’m already here and having a BLAST! Me, B & A and M & B are staying at G & M’s. We’re laughing, visiting, watcing movies, eating, cooking, talking, etc. I”ll post some of our more funny moments when I get back.

An hour and a half!

25 05 2005

It takes me almost exactly 30 minutes to get to work everyday. Last night, it took an hour and a half. Ninety minutes people! (quick impression there of Sinefeld’s Elaine.) I had called a friend on my way up there (actually I was already in Farmerville) and pulled over in a parking lot to talk so I wouldn’t lose my signal; I also had some extra time before I had to be at work. I pulled back out several minutes later and not 50 yards down the road, I’m stuck in a line. A tree had fallen on a car (she’s ok and the car wasn’t hurt that badly) and blocked traffic. I sat there for over 45 minutes. I called my supervisor on his cell phone, since he was in line as well, to ask him what should we do? He called me back a few minutes later and said he was going to turn around and try a different way. We did that and both got to work an hour late. Fun, fun, fun. I guess I’d be more upset about missing an hour’s pay, but since I’m working 12s the rest of the week, no biggie.

I’m hungry.

Trinity Sunday (Pentacost 1)

22 05 2005

Almighty and everlasting God, you have given to us your servants grace, by the confession of a true faith, to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity, and in the power of your divine Majesty to worship the Unity: Keep us steadfast in this faith and worship, and bring us at last to see you in your one and eternal glory, O Father; who with the Son and the Holy Spirit live and reign, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

O Trinity, most blessed Light,
O Unity of sovereign might,
As now the fiery sun departs,
Shed Thou Thy beams within our hearts.

To Thee our morning songs of praise,
To Thee our evening prayer we raise;
Thee may our glory evermore
In lowly reverence adore.

All praise to God the Father be,
All praise, eternal Son, to Thee,
Whom with the Spirit we adore
Forever and forevermore.

Words: St. Ambrose; arranged by C. Kenneth Turner
(This was our offetory anthem today. There is also another hymn that I wanted to put here but can’t remember the title nor the page number in the hymnal we use. Maybe I’ll email Joe, our “choir secretary”.Keep Reading)

Eternal Spirit of the living Christ,
I know not how to ask or what to say;
I only know my need, as deep as life,
and only you can teach me how to pray.

Come, pray in me the prayer I need this day;
help me to see your purpose and your will
where I have failed, what I have done amiss;
held in forgiving love, let me be still.

Come with the strength I lack, the vision clear
of neighbor’s need, of all humanity;
fulfilment of my life in love outpoured;
my life in you, O Christ; your love in me.

Words: Frank von Christierson
I really need to frame this and put it somewhere

Psalm 51

21 05 2005

Have mercy upon me, O God,
According to Your lovingkindness;
Blot out my transgressions.
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
And cleanse me from my sin.
For I acknowledge my transgressions,
And my sin is always before me.
Against You, You only, have I sinned,
And done this evil in Your sight–
That You may be found just when You speak,
And blameless when You judge.
Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity,
And in sin my mother conceived me.
Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts,
And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.
Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;
Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Make me hear joy and gladness,
That the bones You have broken may rejoice.
Hide Your face from my sins,
And blot out all my iniquities.
Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me away from Your presence,
And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of Your salvation,
And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.
Then I will teach transgressors Your ways,
And sinners shall be converted to You.
Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God,
The God of my salvation,
And my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness.
O Lord, open my lips,
And my mouth shall show forth Your praise.
For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it;
You do not delight in burnt offering.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit,
A broken and a contrite heart–
These, O God, You will not despise.
Do good in Your good pleasure to Zion;
Build the walls of Jerusalem.
Then You shall be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness,
With burnt offering and whole burnt offering;
Then they shall offer bulls on Your altar.

Em-Senior#3

My baby-sister is finally graduating high school this coming Tuesday. My parents and her boyfriend’s parents are throwing her a senior party tonight. Our parents just thought they had an empty nest, but she decided to move down from Virginia. I would have posted a picture of her in her cap and gown but didn’t have one. She’ll move in with me in August and begin Tech in the fall. Now if I can only decide what to give her as a grad present.

New Love

18 05 2005

I discovered in the Coke machines at work the new Diet Coke sweetened with Splenda. No aspartame. And it actually takes pretty close to a real Coke. Try one. You might be surprised.

Pentacost Sunday

15 05 2005

Almighty God, on this day you opened the way of eternal life to every race and nation by the promised gift of your Holy Spirit: Shed abroad this gift throughout the world by the preaching of the Gospel, that it may reach to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

O Spirit of Life, O Spirit of God,
in every need thou bringest aid,
thou camest forth from God’s great throne,
from God, the Father and the Son;
O Spirit of Life, O Spirit of God.

O Spirit of Life, O Spirit of God,
make us to love thy sacred word;
the holy flame of love impart,
that charity may warm each heart;
O Spirit of Life, O Spirit of God.

O Spirit of Life, O Spirit of God,
increase our faith in our dear Lord;
unless thy grace the power should give,
none can believe in Christ and live;
O Spirit of Life, O Spirit of God.

O Spirit of Life, O Spirit of God,
enlighten us by thy blest word;
teach us to know the Father’s love,
and his dear Son, who reigns above:
O Spirit of Life, O Spirit of God.

Easter 7 (Ascension Sunday @ GEC)

8 05 2005

O God, the King of glory, you have exalted your only Son Jesus Christ with great triumph to your kingdom in heaven: Do not leave us comfortless, but send us your Holy Spirit to strengthen us, and exalt us to that place where our Savior Christ has gone before; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.

Grant, we pray, Almighty God, that as we believe your only-begotten Son our Lord Jesus Christ to have ascended into heaven, so we may also in heart and mind there ascend, and with him continually dwell; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Refrain: Hail thee, festival day!
Blest day that art hallowed forever;
day when our God ascends
high in the heavens to reign.

Lo, the fair beauty of earth,
from the death of the winter arising,
every good gift of the year
now with its Master returns. Refrain

Daily the loveliness grows,
adorned with the glory of blossom;
heaven her gates unbars,
flinging her increase of light. Refrain

Christ in his triumph ascends,
who hath vanquished the devil’s dominion;
gay is the woodland with leaves,
bright are the meadows with flowers. Refrain

Christ overwhelms the domain
of Hades and rises to heaven;
fitly the light gives him praise–
meadows and ocean and sky. Refrain

Loosen, O Lord, the enchained,
the spirits imprisoned in darkness;
rescue, recall into life those
who are rushing to death. Refrain

So shalt thou bear in thine arms
an immaculate people to heaven,
bearing them pure unto God,
pledge of thy victory here. Refrain

Jesus, the health of the world,
enlighten our minds, thou Redeemer,
Son of the Father supreme,
only-begotten of God! Refrain

Equal art thou, co-eternal,
in fellowship ay with the Father;
in the beginning by thee
all was created and made. Refrain

And it was thou, blessèd Lord,
who discerning humanity’s sorrow,
humbledst thyself for our race,
taking our flesh for thine own. Refrain

I’m getting a computer!!!

5 05 2005

Finally. After being ‘puter-less in my home, I’m getting a Dell. My step-dad called me last night and said that they can put on their Dell account a new desktop (vanilla flavored) for like $20 a month so Emily and I can have a computer when she moves in with me in August. No more having to figure out when I can get to a computer (folks, library, B & A’s, wherever I can get to one) to just check my email. Now I just need to figure out how to get PPC back up.

A little help here please?

5 05 2005

I can’t stand it when Gmail is down and I haven’t checked my email in a couple of days.
