Whew! Finally home!

LR was great but Dallas was cool too. I left LR and headed to DFW area Friday to hang out with one of my sister’s best friends from high school. We went out to dinner in her small but booming suburb town called Little Elm (it’s in between McKinney and Denton, right next to Frisco) Friday night. Saturday we went and drove through some elite neighborhoods with houses that range from $500,00 to probably over $10,000,000 (like this one. See the archway on the left? There’s a gate there to drive in to the garage and to the left of the gate is the mother-in-law suite. Almost all the big houses had those), shopping at Sam Moon (if you can imagine the Beehive times 10), ate at Fuddruckers (yes they do have great hamburgers but a little on the pricey side), and drove around downtown Dallas (including the historic West End where Kennedy was shot. We drove right over the spot). I had a great time hanging out with Brandy. I told her all about the amazing high school drumlines that are in that area (i.e., East Plano, the Colony, etc.) and how some feed into UNT and how they have a great drumline (and I’m assuming band too). I might head back there in the fall for a UNT game. YAY!

Oh and by the way…I’m sick :( ( My throat’s been hurting since Saturday morning. I hope it’s not strep. I think I’m going to skip out on church today becuase of it. I went to church but sat out in the congregation instead of the choir.

Coming through the headphones

Adrienne told me about her a couple of weeks ago, and I love it. She’s got a great sound. I downloaded (and paid for!) her CD on my Yahoo Music Engine and will definately be taking it with me on my road trip this week.

President’s Day Woes

20 02 2006

1. I don’t want to leave because my steps are iced over, but I’m bored out of my mind sittin’ at home.
2. It’s going to be harder this week to keep up with current events since I won’t be listening to Morning Edition every morning on the way home from work.
3. I know the library is closed, and I’m assuming the post office is closed, so I can’t get the forms necessary to do my taxes.
4. I many not be able to leave tomorrow for Greg and Mel’s due to weather.
5. For some reason I’ve really been missing Matt & Beth lately and wonder how their little one is.

Eph 7

19 02 2006

O Lord, you have taught us that without love whatever we do is worth nothing: Send your Holy Spirit and pour into our hearts your greatest gift, which is love, the true bond of peace and of all virtue, without which whoever lives is accounted dead before you. Grant this for the sake of your only Son Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

When to the temple Mary went,
And brought the Holy Child,
Him did the aged Simeon see,
As it had been revealed.
He took up Jesus in his arms
And blessing God he said:
In peace I now depart, my Saviour having seen,
The Hope of Israel, the Light of men.

Help now thy servants, gracious Lord,
That we may ever be
As once the faithful Simeon was,
Rejoicing but in Thee;
And when we must from earth departure take,
May gently fall asleep and with Thee wake.

Eph 6

12 02 2006

O God, the strength of all who put their trust in you: Mercifully accept our prayers; and because in our weakness we can do nothing good without you, give us the help of your grace, that in keeping your commandments we may please you both in will and deed; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
