Update

9 01 2006

Well I’m back. Things are going good. Still working graveyards, BUT there is a great opportunity opening at the plant. The production clerk has left and I’m going to shoot for it. I talked to my superintendent this morning, and I think he’s going to give me a good recommendation! Yay! Finally! A day job!
Christmas and everything went good.
Found out this weekend that my youngest nephew Jacob has petit mal epilepsy. He’s doing good, and we’re all hoping he’ll grow out of it.
Not much else to report.

The Baptism of our Lord

8 01 2006

Father in heaven, who at the baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan proclaimed him your beloved Son and anointed him with the Holy Spirit: Grant that all who are baptized into his Name may keep the covenant they have made, and boldly confess him as Lord and Savior; who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.

Acts 10:34-38
Peter began to speak to Cornelius and his relatives and close friends: “I truly understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him. You know the message he sent to the people of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ– he is Lord of all. That message spread throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John announced: how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power; how he went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

Do I have to?

19 10 2005

It was a trick to get me to post. I swear it!

I got tagged by the J’s. In all actuality (is that really a word?) this isn’t my real 23rd post. I deleted a lot of my old old archives a long time ago. but this is the 23rd from the bottom of the list. It was a Sunday’s post (collect and hymn)

“People and realms of ev’ry tongue dwell on his love with sweetest song; and infant voices shall proclaim their early blessings on his Name.”

I now tag

Mike & Kristen S.
Ed & Ashwee D.

Pentacost 22

16 10 2005

Almighty and everlasting God, in Christ you have revealed your glory among the nations: Preserve the works of your mercy, that your Church throughout the world may persevere with steadfast faith in the confession of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

O God, beyond all praising,
we worship you today
and sing the love amazing
that songs cannot repay;
for we can only wonder
at ev’ry gift you send,
at blessings without number
and mercies without end:
we lift our hearts before you
and wait upon your word;
we honor and adore you,
our great and mighty Lord .

The flow’r of earthly splendor
in time must surely die,
its fragile bloom surrender
to you, the Lord most high;
but hidden from all nature
the eternal seed is sown—
though small in mortal stature,
to heaven’s garden grown:
for Christ the man from heaven
from death has set us free,
and we through him are given
the final victory.

Then hear, O gracious Savior,
accept the love we bring,
that we who know your favor
may serve you as our King;
and whether our tomorrows
be filled with good or ill,
we’ll triumph through our sorrows
and rise to bless you still:
to marvel at your beauty
and glory in your ways,
and make a joyful duty
our sacrifice of praise.

Pentacost 21

9 10 2005

Lord, we pray that your grace may always precede and follow us, that we may continually be given to good works; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Deck thyself, my soul, with gladness,
leave the gloomy haunts of sadness,
come into the daylight’s splendor,
there with joy thy praises render
unto him whose grace unbounded
hath this wondrous banquet founded;
high o’er all the heavens he reigneth,
yet to dwell with thee he deigneth.

Now I sink before thee lowly,
filled with joy most deep and holy,
as with trembling awe and wonder
on thy mighty acts I ponder;
how, by mystery surrounded,
depths no man hath ever sounded,
none may dare to pierce unbidden
secrets that with thee are hidden.

Sun, who all my life dost brighten;
Light, who dost my soul enlighten;
Joy, the sweetest man e’er knoweth;
Fount, whence all my being floweth:
at thy feet I cry, my Maker,
let me a fit partaker
of this blessed food from heaven,
for our good, thy glory, given.

Jesus, Bread of life, I pray thee,
let me gladly here obey thee;
never to my hurt invited,
be thy love with love requited;
from this banquet let me measure,
Lord, how vast and deep its treasure;
through the gifts thou here dost give me,
as thy guest in heaven receive me.

Pentacost 20

2 10 2005

Almighty and everlasting God, you are always more ready to hear than we to pray, and to give more than we either desire or deserve: Pour upon us the abundance of your mercy, forgiving us those things of which our conscience is afraid, and giving us those good things for which we are not worthy to ask, except through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ our Savior; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
